What I Stand For
- Planning policy that allows us to preserve our heritage and maintain our small town character. When I joined council in 2018, I quickly realized our Official Plan does not allow us to direct growth, it does not clearly lay out a plan for the future and makes us susceptible to provincial appeals. The Main Street Development Review Committee was my idea and I want to be at the Council table when the recommendations come to a vote.
- Transparency and accessibility of Council business. My first motion, after being elected, was to have council meetings recorded and live-streamed so residents could view the meetings in real time or later at their convenience. I promote robust public consultation, I post updates of meetings and am always available to listen to the concerns of residents.
- Responding to your concerns. I’ve championed: a nuisance bylaw for greenhouse lighting and cannabis odour, a resolution calling on E.L.K. and the Town of Essex to improve hydro service, improved data from Windsor Essex County Health Unit at the height of the pandemic, support for small businesses hard hit by covid restrictions, a new surface for a basketball court at Ridgeview Park, Lakeside Park as the preferred location for the splash pad, the use of the Carnegie library by the arts community.
